Synopsis: Without the knowledge of most humans, a bizarre tournament is performed to decide the next ruler of the heavenly world. In this tournament, 100 heavenly beings known as "candidates for God" are required to look among high school students on earth and transfer their powers to a student of their choice. The chosen ones will face each other, representing their candidates to God. The winner of this tournament will receive the "blank talent" - allowing them to choose any unique ability they wish - while the candidate for God they represent will obtain the position of "God" and become the king of the heavenly world.

Participating in this great tournament is Kousuke Ueki, a high school student who receives the power to turn trash into trees by his classroom teacher Kobayashi. Despite the concerns of his classmate, Ai Mori, Ueki embarks on a journey to seek his own sense of justice after witnessing the people around him using his powers to selfish purposes. But while he finds talented energy s like Seiichirou Sano, Rinko Jirld, Robert Haydn and Hideyoshi Soya, he realizes that achieving his goal can be harder than it seems.
